29 May 2024

Welcome to the May edition of Employer News. It’s hard to believe we’re already rapidly approaching the End of Financial Year (EOFY) and we want you to know that we are here to support you through this exceptionally demanding time.

In this edition of Employer News, we’ll be addressing key cut-off dates and essential updates, to ensure your team is well equipped to navigate this period with confidence.

Now is a good time to encourage your employees to update their contact details with CSC to ensure they receive their annual statements. They can update their details online through our digital portal, the CSC Navigator.

Remember, EOFY is a marathon not a sprint and our team will be standing by to help make it as seamless as possible, by assisting you with any questions you may have.

You can reach out to us on 1300 338 240 or at employer.service@csc.gov.au.

Last payday of the financial year cut off-dates

At this busy time of the year, we need your support to ensure all your contributions are allocated to your accounts by the deadlines. This will help avoid tax impacts, and exceeding contribution caps.

Here are the key deadlines to keep in mind:

  • Thursday 20 June 2024

Last pay day of financial year

  • Friday 21 June 2024

For PSSap members, last date for all employer and voluntary contributions

  • Sunday 30 June 2024

Last date for all contributions to be allocated

Early cut-off dates for benefit applications

It’s important to keep in mind we have early cut-off dates for commencing new pension payments. These will impact any employees who are claiming their CSS or PSS benefit in June.

Cut-off dates:

  • For applications processed between 8 June and 12 June 2024 (inclusive) the first pension payday will be 27 June 2024.
  • For applications processed between 13 June and 5 July 2024 (inclusive) the first pension payday will be 11 July 2024.

First pension payday:

  • 27 June 2024, for applications processed between 8 June and 12 June 2024.
  • 11 July 2024, for applications processed between 13 June and 5 July 2024.

Cut-off dates for pension payments after this period will go back to normal, meaning the cut-off will be the Friday before the pension payday—pension paydays run on the opposite Thursdays to regular paydays.

Benefit applications usually take 10-15 business days to process from the time we receive all necessary information.

Updating PSS and CSS members with June birthdays

With the early EOFY cut-offs, it’s possible you may not have all your PSS and CSS member June birthday reviews completed.

Please be mindful to complete these as soon as possible, as CSC issues members with annual member statements based on financial year periods.

To ensure annual statements reflect the most up to date salary information, we need you to report the June birthday salaries as soon as possible.

Rejoining PSS members and CMAPS forms

CSC has noticed a rise in members rejoining PSS who have either not completed a Confidential Medical and Personal Statement (CMAPS) form or have not been requested to do so by their new employer.

Often, this is not made evident until which time a member is attempting to claim a form of invalidity payment.

New employees commencing a new period of PSS membership must provide a CMAPS form to provide medical details. This allows us to assess whether they should be a limited benefits member.

You must provide this form to each new employee who is starting a new period of PSS membership and make a note in their personnel file confirming that they have received it.

The employee should then return the form directly to us.

If you require any further information on rejoining members, please refer to Starting a new employee.
