Real stories. Real members.

We’re talking to CSC members to hear how insurance through super has supported their recovery and wellbeing.

Brad's story

Diagnosed with a mental health condition, Brad resigned from his work as a journalist. Watch how Brad accessed his financial and recovery support from his insurance through super. Brad worked as a journalist for 12 years with various news outlets before resigning due to a mental health condition. He was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, agoraphobia, panic attacks, negative thoughts, and self-confidence challenges.

While reviewing his super benefits, Brad came to realise that he had AIA Income Protection cover through his super. Not only did Brad receive financial support, but he could also access the AIA Embrace comprehensive suite of services. These programs and partnerships include rehabilitation support, return to work coaching, and resilience counselling.

Brad has since returned to part-time work as a Community Organiser. He’s passionate about supporting disadvantaged people in his community. Brad is sharing his story to inspire us and share the importance of having a financial and wellbeing safety net.

John's story

Meet John, aged 55, awoke from a 15-day coma to learn of his life-altering meningococcal disease diagnosis.

Watch how John received vocational assessment and counselling from his insurance through his super. In his own words, John ‘has been through a lot’. Learning to accept his new reality—living as a quadruple amputee—John was surprised and relieved to discover the financial and rehabilitation support systems available to him from his insurance through super.

When John completed his prosthetic rehab work, he increased his work with the rehabilitation provider to include business coaching. John set meaningful goals for his recovery: he wanted to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding, and he wanted to build his public speaking business and return to work.

John is now a public speaker and disability advocate. He’s sharing his story of the challenges he’s faced to remind us that there is something in rehab for everyone at different stages in their recovery journey.
