Safeguarding your super

Safeguarding your super against sophisticated cyber-attacks remains our top priority.

08 Oct 2024

As our reliance on technology grows, so does the need to protect digital assets from cyber threats. At CSC, safeguarding your super against sophisticated cyber-attacks remains our top priority. In addition to our own security measures, we’re committed to collaborating with members to highlight a prevention-first approach.

Why cybercriminals target super

Substantial amounts of money and sensitive information make super funds a prime target for cyber criminals. Often members don’t monitor their super account as closely as they would their bank account.

Robust security controls are essential to discourage attacks, and we’re here to work closely with you to secure your retirement savings.

How we protect you

  • Best practice alignment

We comply with the mandatory information security prudential standards set by Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and align our practices to federal security guidelines.

  • 24/7 and real-time monitoring

Our environments are continuously monitored to detect and respond to suspicious activities. This ’defence in depth’ approach employs multiple prevention and detection systems to minimise the chances of a successful cyber-attack.

  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA)

MFA adds an additional layer of security to your online account, that requires multiple forms of verification before you are able to log in or make significant changes.

  • Monitoring for compromised credentials

We work with our threat intelligence partners to monitor the internet and dark web for stolen credentials belonging to our members. Affected members are notified, and additional security measures are added to their account if necessary.

How you can keep your super safe

Use strong passwords

Create a lengthy password–the longer the password, the harder it is to guess. Avoid recycling passwords,  and consider using a password manager to securely store your passwords.

Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Ensure MFA is enabled for your account for extra security. To set up MFA, contact us.

Beware of unknown emails, texts and phone calls

Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from unknown senders. Always verify any unusual requests with the sender through an alternative communication method.

Monitor your account

Regularly check your super for unusual activity. If you see something suspicious, email us at Fraud.Report@csc.gov.au

Maintaining cybersecurity is a collaborative effort. By staying informed and vigilant, you assist us to safeguard your super and personal information from cyber threats.
